Mentoring and Consultation for ManagersWho will this interest?
People who supervise or manage people in any setting, ranging from a small social service team to a CEO in a not-for-profit or for profit company. Everyone would agree with the premise, 'People are an organisation's greatest resource'. Yet in practice, this expensive resource is frequently lost as managers and organisational leaders struggle to successfully resolve conflict, meet goals and utilise people's strengths. Consequently I offer a consultation process where participants practise stepping back from conflictual situations in order to discover new perspectives that are generative of creative solutions. How will I become a more reflective, less reactive manager? Through the consultation process we will build on the competencies you’ve developed while identifying those ‘blind spots’ that are limiting your effectiveness and professional development. Once these blind spots are noticed we will develop practical skills to counteract this. What is the focus for the consultation process? An integral part of this process is discussing and practicing the skills to become a more reflective supervisor, consultant or manager. How relevant is a relational narrative orientation to management? Maximising staff creativity and competence requires the ability to ‘manage’ conflict, problem-solve and conceptualise and enact relational accountability. The approach that I've developed will assist you to find and address those inevitable ‘blind spots’ before they find you. Where are these consultations available? Sessions are held in my Auckland studio or using technology. |
